Farm Open House is a self-guided experience for all ages. During your visit, guests can:

• Explore the ranch, gardens and Wild Spaces

• Visit animals from outside their enclosures

• Participate in a ranch-wide scavenger hunt

• Enjoy a seasonal nature-discovery activity in the garden

Explore a spring-themed sensory box featuring natural materials from around the ranch, plus a take-home nature craft.

What exactly is a sanctuary?

As a non-profit farm animal sanctuary, our priority is the physical and emotional well being of the rescued animals who call Charlie's Acres home. Our animal residents always have a choice as to whether or not they want to interact with visitors and will reside at the sanctuary for the rest of their lives. In contrast, the goal of a petting zoo is profit and entertainment, meaning that animals may be forced to be handled regardless of what they want and are often discarded when they are no longer profitable. By sharing the stories of our rescued residents, they are able to serve as animal ambassadors to help visitors learn more about the challenges animals like them face in our world and see these often misunderstood beings in a new light.

Charlie's Acres is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit. All donations and registration costs are tax deductible.

What should I expect?

We are a working farm animal sanctuary, so please expect to do some walking, potentially get dirty, and be exposed to the natural weather elements (rain, heat, wind). Also expect to meet some amazing farm animals and hear their incredible stories. Tours last between 75 and 90 minutes and involve about 1/2 mile of walking.

What should I wear?

If you would like to go into the animal pastures, please wear closed toe shoes. Boots are preferable, but any closed toe shoe will do. If you are wearing clothing that we do not think is safe to be with the animals, we may ask you to wait outside the pastures.

Tours of Charlie's Acres are offered rain or shine. We have barns and shelters along the tour route for cover as needed. Please dress appropriately for the weather.

What should I bring?

Please bring a water bottle in the summer months as it gets hot! We have filtered water on site, so you can refill it as needed. We have limited shade and coverings, so an umbrella and/or hat could be useful as well. Please do NOT bring any food or really yummy smelling items on your body or in your purse during the tour as our animals love to eat! Feel free to bring your camera and take pictures. Vallejo Reptile and Oddities Expo

The Vallejo expo started in 2019 and is the first and only expo that benefits a non profit Reptile Rescue.  We bring  you some of the best and most professional breeders from all over California. You can also get all your habitat essentials that you need at affordable prices and see 1000’s of snakes, lizards, tortoises,  amphibians,  tarantulas,  scorpions,  isopods and so much more all under one roof. We work very hard to make this a great and family friendly event for everyone as we personally pick each vendor.

We also bring you a little extra with our amazing Oddity vendors that are intermixed within the reptiles. They will have many handmade one-of-a-kind items such as taxidermy, wet specimens, horror themed items, handmade chocolates, and so many other creative pieces for you to purchase.

This expo is unique and an oddly satisfying experience for everyone.  Your ticket purchase will go directly to the rescue  so come and enjoy the fun while supporting a great cause so come and join us.

Napa SoFi District presents Battle of the Bands

The 3rd Annual Napa SoFi District BATTLE of the Bands returns to Downtown Napa on Sunday, July 26, 2026, from 11:00 AM–6:00 PM. Sonoma Sundays on the Plaza

This summer, Music in Place and the City of Sonoma invite you to soak up the sunshine, sip local wine, and dance to live music at the Sonoma Plaza Grinstead Amphitheater during Sonoma Sundays on the Plaza, a free concert series running June 7 through October 4, 2026.

Every Sunday from 2:00–5:00 PM, the Plaza comes alive with an exciting mix of musical styles: blues, soul, country, jazz, swing, Americana, mariachi, and more. With a fresh lineup of acclaimed artists, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

What exactly is a sanctuary?

As a non-profit farm animal sanctuary, our priority is the physical and emotional well being of the rescued animals who call Charlie's Acres home. Our animal residents always have a choice as to whether or not they want to interact with visitors and will reside at the sanctuary for the rest of their lives. In contrast, the goal of a petting zoo is profit and entertainment, meaning that animals may be forced to be handled regardless of what they want and are often discarded when they are no longer profitable. By sharing the stories of our rescued residents, they are able to serve as animal ambassadors to help visitors learn more about the challenges animals like them face in our world and see these often misunderstood beings in a new light.

Charlie's Acres is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit. All donations and registration costs are tax deductible.

What should I expect?

We are a working farm animal sanctuary, so please expect to do some walking, potentially get dirty, and be exposed to the natural weather elements (rain, heat, wind). Also expect to meet some amazing farm animals and hear their incredible stories. Tours last between 75 and 90 minutes and involve about 1/2 mile of walking.

What should I wear?

If you would like to go into the animal pastures, please wear closed toe shoes. Boots are preferable, but any closed toe shoe will do. If you are wearing clothing that we do not think is safe to be with the animals, we may ask you to wait outside the pastures.

Tours of Charlie's Acres are offered rain or shine. We have barns and shelters along the tour route for cover as needed. Please dress appropriately for the weather.

What should I bring?

Please bring a water bottle in the summer months as it gets hot! We have filtered water on site, so you can refill it as needed. We have limited shade and coverings, so an umbrella and/or hat could be useful as well. Sunday Funday is a playful, family-friendly program inviting children of all ages to explore the beauty of the Garden and connect with nature through hands-on, creative experiences. Families can enjoy face painting, arts and crafts, family yoga, a seed-planting activity, lawn games, and more. 

During each program, guests will also have the opportunity to experience our special exhibition, Spirit Guides, featuring large-scale sculptures of brightly colored, richly patterned imaginary hybrid animals. Select activities and activations throughout the afternoon will be offered bilingually (English/Spanish), supporting inclusive engagement for families in our community. This is a drop-in program; no advance registration is required.

Sonoma Sundays on the Plaza

This summer, Music in Place and the City of Sonoma invite you to soak up the sunshine, sip local wine, and dance to live music at the Sonoma Plaza Grinstead Amphitheater during Sonoma Sundays on the Plaza, a free concert series running June 7 through October 4, 2026.

Farm Open House is a self-guided experience for all ages. During your visit, guests can:

• Explore the ranch, gardens and Wild Spaces

• Visit animals from outside their enclosures

• Participate in a ranch-wide scavenger hunt

• Enjoy a seasonal nature-discovery activity in the garden

Explore a spring-themed sensory box featuring natural materials from around the ranch, plus a take-home nature craft.

What exactly is a sanctuary?

As a non-profit farm animal sanctuary, our priority is the physical and emotional well being of the rescued animals who call Charlie's Acres home. Our animal residents always have a choice as to whether or not they want to interact with visitors and will reside at the sanctuary for the rest of their lives. In contrast, the goal of a petting zoo is profit and entertainment, meaning that animals may be forced to be handled regardless of what they want and are often discarded when they are no longer profitable. By sharing the stories of our rescued residents, they are able to serve as animal ambassadors to help visitors learn more about the challenges animals like them face in our world and see these often misunderstood beings in a new light.

Charlie's Acres is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit. All donations and registration costs are tax deductible.

What should I expect?

We are a working farm animal sanctuary, so please expect to do some walking, potentially get dirty, and be exposed to the natural weather elements (rain, heat, wind). Also expect to meet some amazing farm animals and hear their incredible stories. Tours last between 75 and 90 minutes and involve about 1/2 mile of walking.

What should I wear?

If you would like to go into the animal pastures, please wear closed toe shoes. Boots are preferable, but any closed toe shoe will do. If you are wearing clothing that we do not think is safe to be with the animals, we may ask you to wait outside the pastures.

Tours of Charlie's Acres are offered rain or shine. We have barns and shelters along the tour route for cover as needed. Please dress appropriately for the weather.

What should I bring?

Please bring a water bottle in the summer months as it gets hot! We have filtered water on site, so you can refill it as needed. We have limited shade and coverings, so an umbrella and/or hat could be useful as well. Please do NOT bring any food or really yummy smelling items on your body or in your purse during the tour as our animals love to eat! Feel free to bring your camera and take pictures. Sonoma Sundays on the Plaza

This summer, Music in Place and the City of Sonoma invite you to soak up the sunshine, sip local wine, and dance to live music at the Sonoma Plaza Grinstead Amphitheater during Sonoma Sundays on the Plaza, a free concert series running June 7 through October 4, 2026.

Every Sunday from 2:00–5:00 PM, the Plaza comes alive with an exciting mix of musical styles: blues, soul, country, jazz, swing, Americana, mariachi, and more. With a fresh lineup of acclaimed artists, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Once again, the Napa community has opened their personal libraries and donated books, CD’s and DVD’s so you can discover new treasures or rediscover old forgotten yet beloved gems.  As an added bonus, a local Napa chef downsized her personal cookbook library and sent us over 500 cookbooks representing many cuisines.  When you visit the sale, make you you leave enough time to checkout her generous donation. Just think of the new recipes you will discover!

So how about visiting the Friends of the Napa Library Multi-day Book Sale in the Community Room at the Napa County Library!  We have an incredible selection of books, CD’s and DVD’s donated by you, our generous community of book lovers. What exactly is a sanctuary?

As a non-profit farm animal sanctuary, our priority is the physical and emotional well being of the rescued animals who call Charlie's Acres home. Our animal residents always have a choice as to whether or not they want to interact with visitors and will reside at the sanctuary for the rest of their lives. In contrast, the goal of a petting zoo is profit and entertainment, meaning that animals may be forced to be handled regardless of what they want and are often discarded when they are no longer profitable. By sharing the stories of our rescued residents, they are able to serve as animal ambassadors to help visitors learn more about the challenges animals like them face in our world and see these often misunderstood beings in a new light.

Charlie's Acres is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit. All donations and registration costs are tax deductible.

What should I expect?

We are a working farm animal sanctuary, so please expect to do some walking, potentially get dirty, and be exposed to the natural weather elements (rain, heat, wind). Also expect to meet some amazing farm animals and hear their incredible stories. Tours last between 75 and 90 minutes and involve about 1/2 mile of walking.

What should I wear?

If you would like to go into the animal pastures, please wear closed toe shoes. Boots are preferable, but any closed toe shoe will do. If you are wearing clothing that we do not think is safe to be with the animals, we may ask you to wait outside the pastures.

Tours of Charlie's Acres are offered rain or shine. We have barns and shelters along the tour route for cover as needed. Please dress appropriately for the weather.

What should I bring?

Please bring a water bottle in the summer months as it gets hot! We have filtered water on site, so you can refill it as needed. We have limited shade and coverings, so an umbrella and/or hat could be useful as well. Please do NOT bring any food or really yummy smelling items on your body or in your purse during the tour as our animals love to eat! Feel free to bring your camera and take pictures. Sonoma Sundays on the Plaza

This summer, Music in Place and the City of Sonoma invite you to soak up the sunshine, sip local wine, and dance to live music at the Sonoma Plaza Grinstead Amphitheater during Sonoma Sundays on the Plaza, a free concert series running June 7 through October 4, 2026.

What exactly is a sanctuary?

As a non-profit farm animal sanctuary, our priority is the physical and emotional well being of the rescued animals who call Charlie's Acres home. Our animal residents always have a choice as to whether or not they want to interact with visitors and will reside at the sanctuary for the rest of their lives. In contrast, the goal of a petting zoo is profit and entertainment, meaning that animals may be forced to be handled regardless of what they want and are often discarded when they are no longer profitable. By sharing the stories of our rescued residents, they are able to serve as animal ambassadors to help visitors learn more about the challenges animals like them face in our world and see these often misunderstood beings in a new light.

Charlie's Acres is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit. All donations and registration costs are tax deductible.

What should I expect?

We are a working farm animal sanctuary, so please expect to do some walking, potentially get dirty, and be exposed to the natural weather elements (rain, heat, wind). Also expect to meet some amazing farm animals and hear their incredible stories. Tours last between 75 and 90 minutes and involve about 1/2 mile of walking.

What should I wear?

If you would like to go into the animal pastures, please wear closed toe shoes. Boots are preferable, but any closed toe shoe will do. If you are wearing clothing that we do not think is safe to be with the animals, we may ask you to wait outside the pastures.

The Napa Parks & Recreation Department is hosting a volunteer workday each month at one of our parks or landscape areas. These family-friendly workdays are a fun and productive way to help beautify our Napa park system. The common tasks include litter pickup, spreading mulch, cleaning play area equipment, weeding, planting trees and more!

Bring friends, team up with neighbors, and meet new people while helping to care for our parks! These family-friendly workdays are a fun and rewarding way to help improve a local park or community center through activities like litter removal, mulch spreading, cleaning playground equipment and picnic grills, weeding, and more. Gloves and hand tools will be provided, though you’re welcome to bring your own (no power tools, please). Children are welcome with adult supervision. Events take place rain or shine.

As a non-profit farm animal sanctuary, our priority is the physical and emotional well being of the rescued animals who call Charlie's Acres home. Our animal residents always have a choice as to whether or not they want to interact with visitors and will reside at the sanctuary for the rest of their lives. In contrast, the goal of a petting zoo is profit and entertainment, meaning that animals may be forced to be handled regardless of what they want and are often discarded when they are no longer profitable. By sharing the stories of our rescued residents, they are able to serve as animal ambassadors to help visitors learn more about the challenges animals like them face in our world and see these often misunderstood beings in a new light.

Charlie's Acres is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit. All donations and registration costs are tax deductible.

What should I expect?

We are a working farm animal sanctuary, so please expect to do some walking, potentially get dirty, and be exposed to the natural weather elements (rain, heat, wind). Also expect to meet some amazing farm animals and hear their incredible stories. Tours last between 75 and 90 minutes and involve about 1/2 mile of walking.

What should I wear?

If you would like to go into the animal pastures, please wear closed toe shoes. Boots are preferable, but any closed toe shoe will do. If you are wearing clothing that we do not think is safe to be with the animals, we may ask you to wait outside the pastures.

Tours of Charlie's Acres are offered rain or shine. We have barns and shelters along the tour route for cover as needed. Please dress appropriately for the weather.

What should I bring?

Please bring a water bottle in the summer months as it gets hot! We have filtered water on site, so you can refill it as needed. We have limited shade and coverings, so an umbrella and/or hat could be useful as well. Please do NOT bring any food or really yummy smelling items on your body or in your purse during the tour as our animals love to eat! Feel free to bring your camera and take pictures. Sonoma Sundays on the Plaza

This summer, Music in Place and the City of Sonoma invite you to soak up the sunshine, sip local wine, and dance to live music at the Sonoma Plaza Grinstead Amphitheater during Sonoma Sundays on the Plaza, a free concert series running June 7 through October 4, 2026.

Every Sunday from 2:00–5:00 PM, the Plaza comes alive with an exciting mix of musical styles: blues, soul, country, jazz, swing, Americana, mariachi, and more. With a fresh lineup of acclaimed artists, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Sonoma Sundays is all about creating opportunities for the community to come together through the power of live music. Music in Place is excited to bring an incredible range of artists to the Plaza this summer and continue building connections through music.

Children's Story Time at The St Helena Public Library

This fun and interactive learning environment is suited for children infant - 6 years old but older children are always welcome. Come for the stories, rhymes and crafts! A place to play, learn and grow!

Please note: While our community tours are open to all ages, private tours are strongly recommended for families with young children to enable us to better adjust the pacing and content of the tour for them.

No one will be turned away due to lack of funds. Please be sure to still reserve your spots so that we know to expect you and to ensure we don't go over group capacity.

Join us for a family-friendly, self-guided visit to Connolly Ranch Education Center. Farm Open House is designed for all ages and encourages visitors to explore the ranch, observe our animals, and experience how food, farming, and nature are connected.

Farm Open House is a self-guided experience for all ages. During your visit, guests can:

• Explore the ranch, gardens and Wild Spaces

• Visit animals from outside their enclosures

• Participate in a ranch-wide scavenger hunt

• Enjoy a seasonal nature-discovery activity in the garden
