Charlie's Acres Farm Animal Sanctuary Community Tour (All Ages)
An unforgettable experience!
Visit our sanctuary to meet our animal residents and hear their incredible rescue stories.
Duration
1.5 Hours
Please note: While our community tours are open to all ages, private tours are strongly recommended for families with young children to enable us to better adjust the pacing and content of the tour for them.
No one will be turned away due to lack of funds. If the suggested donation of $25/adult and $15/child is not in your budget, please contact us by email at info@charliesacres.org or by text message at 707-204-0020. We will reply to your message with a discount code you can use to waive the cost. Please be sure to still reserve your spots so that we know to expect you and to ensure we don't go over group capacity.
What exactly is a sanctuary?
As a non-profit farm animal sanctuary, our priority is the physical and emotional well being of the rescued animals who call Charlie's Acres home. Our animal residents always have a choice as to whether or not they want to interact with visitors and will reside at the sanctuary for the rest of their lives. In contrast, the goal of a petting zoo is profit and entertainment, meaning that animals may be forced to be handled regardless of what they want and are often discarded when they are no longer profitable. By sharing the stories of our rescued residents, they are able to serve as animal ambassadors to help visitors learn more about the challenges animals like them face in our world and see these often misunderstood beings in a new light.
Charlie's Acres is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit. All donations and registration costs are tax deductible.
What should I expect?
We are a working farm animal sanctuary, so please expect to do some walking, potentially get dirty, and be exposed to the natural weather elements (rain, heat, wind). Also expect to meet some amazing farm animals and hear their incredible stories. Tours last between 75 and 90 minutes and involve about 1/2 mile of walking.
What should I wear?
If you would like to go into the animal pastures, please wear closed toe shoes. Boots are preferable, but any closed toe shoe will do. If you are wearing clothing that we do not think is safe to be with the animals, we may ask you to wait outside the pastures.
Tours of Charlie's Acres are offered rain or shine. We have barns and shelters along the tour route for cover as needed. Please dress appropriately for the weather.
What should I bring?
Please bring a water bottle in the summer months as it gets hot! We have filtered water on site, so you can refill it as needed. We have limited shade and coverings, so an umbrella and/or hat could be useful as well. Please do NOT bring any food or really yummy smelling items on your body or in your purse during the tour as our animals love to eat! Feel free to bring your camera and take pictures. Tag us on Facebook and Instagram!

Flavors of Film Series: Hugo (Age 8+)
Looking for something exciting, educational, and affordable to do with your kids in Napa? You’ve found it! Perfect for kids from 5-12!
The CIA at Copia’s Flavors of Film: Family Series is BACK and we're exploring different cultures from around the world through monthly events—where films meet food, and fun meets flavor. Each event is packed with hands-on food-centric activities, interactive scavenger adventures, and of course, a movie screening the whole family will love.
Perfect for families with curious, creative, and adventurous kids—this is the kind of afternoon that turns into a lifelong memory.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Each month’s themed event includes:
Movie Magic - Enjoy a kid-approved film in our stunning Ecolab Theatre, complete with complimentary popcorn and water. Grown-ups can purchase and sip wine by the glass while relaxing in comfort.
Scavenger Hunts in the Museum or Culinary Gardens - Adventure awaits after the movie! Families explore our one-of-a-kind Chuck Williams Culinary Museum or outdoor culinary gardens with themed scavenger hunts that are fun and sneakily educational (yes, even parents can learn something new!).
Interactive, Movie-Inspired Food Activities - Kids roll up their sleeves and dive into a hands-on food activity inspired by the day’s movie—think edible crafts, and colorful, wholesome treats they can take home to enjoy.

Hollywood Dogs: A Ruff History Of Dogs On Film (All Ages)
Though never acknowledged by Hollywood Award shows, some of the most heartwarming and genuine performances on film were the work of our canine friends. Get ready for a tail-wagging good time as the history of dog stars in the movies is explored through rare film clips from the days when computers had nothing to do with creating a dog's personality or action-sequences. From scrappy mutts to pampered pooches, this celebration will delight anyone who loves dogs and classic film. Don't be surprised if some dogs from Pet's Lifeline of Sonoma make some personal appearances!

Shrek Jr. The Musical (All Ages)
It’s showtime! Shrek Jr., a musical adventure, perfect for the whole family!
We do our best to keep things up to date, but plans can change!
Be sure to double-check with the event host before heading out!
